We Grapple With Gossip

It's easier for many of us to talk about others than deal with our own stuff.

Gossip can, and often does, change the trajectory of a life or many lives. The definition of a gossip is: “Someone who engages in casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.” We definitely live in an era of the rampant spread of misinformation and gossip. We often excuse the spread by calling it “freedom of speech”. Gossip never leads to freedom.

With great power comes great responsibility. Whether we’re an intuitive or someone who unwittingly stumbles on information about another person, we have a choice as to what to do with that information. Do we spread stuff that might destroy a marriage, family, relationship, or life, or do we love on people completely unconditionally and without judgment?
